" I DISCOVER THE PHILADELPHIA PUBLIC LIBRARY"

As a dad and a bookworm I enjoy reading with my little one. The philadelphia public library helps do this in a couple of ways.

--Get your kids a membership- Kids library ID have no late fees and you can borrow multiple books.

--Pre-COVID- story time at library and other activities to do with kids.

--Explore online apps like hoopla and libby. Hoopla has audiobooks, movies, electronic books .There is limit on number of. titles per month. Libby on the other hand has books and audiobooks and a more limited collection but you can borrow/return any number of books.

I try the "drive and run" !! One of the downsides of running in the city- Traffic stops !! If you are in a big city like me you know exactly what I'm talking about. So after a suggestion from a friend I headed to "one boathouse row". Best Decision Ever!! https://www.visitphilly.com/things-to-do/attractions/boathouse-row/ There is a free parking lot with restrooms and a coffee shop and a beautiful uninterrupted trial !!  Other running trial I really loved is "Wissahickon valley park" https://www.visitphilly.com/things-to-do/attractions/wissahickon-valley-park/

I TRY MEDITATION -- Carve out 5-15 minutes in your day. -- Find a place that is comfortable and quiet. -- Start with eyes closed and improving awareness by noticing where your body is in relation to the space around you. -- Focus by bringing your thoughts to a key word for me its "Om". If your thoughts waver slowly bring them back to that word. You can says the word out loud if. it helps. -- At then end come out of your meditation state while thinking of your days ahead- family, goals, priorities etc.  -- Benefits: increased focus, self awareness and ability to handle stress.  -- I found the headspace app helpful but not necessary. Youtube " guided meditation " when you begin. -- Obviously there is a whole world of meditation out there - so go explore !!
